Campus Facilities and Services For Art History Students

Visual Resource Collection (VRC)
The Visual Resources Collection (VRC) contains approximately 216,000 slides, 55,000 photographs and a growing number of digital images (currently 13,000). The collection spans the medias of painting, architecture, sculpture, photography, graphic arts, advertising, books, manuscripts and drawing, in addition to material arts and cultural images. We support the classroom image needs of Binghamton University and the local community. The collection's Curator is Marcia Focht (mfocht@binghamton.edu). Location: FA-143, Phone: 777-2215, Hours: M/F 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.

University Art Museum
The Art Museum is located in the Fine Arts Building (FA-179-180 & FA 213). Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 1 PM - 4PM. Current exhibitions are displayed on the upper level in the Art Museum. The Permanent Collection, on the lower level, has four rooms with a new Asian gallery. Undergraduate internships are available each semester. These usually involve learning the behind-the scenes-workings of a Museum -- installations, condition reports, packing, etc. Lynn Gamwell (lgamwell@speakeasy.net) is the Museum Director.

Fine Arts Library
The Fine Arts Collection is located on the first floor of Library North. The art collection includes books, journals, and exhibition catalogs. Reference resources can be found in the Bartle Reference Collection. Complete information on library materials, including location and availability, is provided through the computerized Library Information System. Terminals are located throughout the building. The Fine Arts Bibliographer, Ed Shephard, (eshephar@binghamton.edu) is also available to assist students with their research. His office is located in LN-2307, in the Bartle Reference area.
